Lonnie Krawl – Owner and Winemaker
An Idaho native, Lonnie grew up in Boise. He graduated from University of Idaho with a degree in Chemical Engineering. It was a combination of Lonnie’s interests in wine and chemistry that started him down the (often challenging) path to becoming a winemaker. He picked up his start in winemaking with a few classes from the Walla Walla Enological and Viticulture School and worked several harvests with Trisaetum and other wineries. With a great deal of help from family, friends and several Oregon winemakers, Lonnie established Julon Vineyard and produced his first vintage in 2008.
Judy Lassa – Owner
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Judy spent most of her childhood on a dairy farm. She picked up an interest in chemistry while studying Paper Science and Engineering at University of Wisconsin‒Steven’s Point, and went on to work as a process engineer at Boise Cascade in 1982. Somewhere along the line she found her way into management, and eventually ended up as the company’s COO. Now a vice president for a packaging and paper company, she also finds time to help run the winery. Although her focus is on wine sales and event management, she has a hand in the winemaking as well. Her business experience and farming background make her a natural fit for the wine industry, and she enjoys all aspects of working in the winery and tasting room.
Kyle Krawl – Assistant Winemaker
Kyle has spent most of his life in Oregon and Idaho. After graduating from Oregon State University with a Master’s degree in Ocean, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences, he decided to try his hand at winemaking, and returned to Boise to help his parents operate Mouvance. With a background in geology and geochemistry, he enjoys learning about both winemaking and the climate, soils, and other factors that contribute to the terroir of Julon Vineyard.
